With all the market turmoil, what is the best way to invest?
I've read many internet articles about different ways to invest. Here are some of the ideas:1. Market will tank some more - keep assets in cash2. Market is about to rebound big time - buy cheap stocks3. Inflation will skyrocket due to the bailouts - buy real assets like gold, property, etc. There are many other ideas out there too. I'm really not sure what to follow. I plan on holding about 20% cash and 80% stocks until I can afford to purchase property. What do you think? How do you think the economy will respond from this recession?

With all the market turmoil, what is the best way to invest?
James A: I think you've answered your own question as you know where to put it, however, it's just what do you want to risk.?.? Do you want the money market at a guaranteed 1% or the hsbcdirect savings account at 2.6% or do you want to pump money in stocks that hope have bottomed out? You know the score it seems, it's just a matter of what you want to risk. Even the bond market has become risky. Bonds were a good investment in 208 but will the interest rate rise in 2009? It's almost like playing the ponies.

James,In my opinion this recession is going much deeper and history dictates that wild inflation will follow.Real property has been bounced back 20 - 25 years in prices already. I predict that by this summer we're going to see the most devastation in my lifetime.I say with the writing on the wall that you're on track with real items such as gold and real estate. Gold investing is best done NOW. Before the inflation hits. Then cash in your chips and take your profits.Buying dwellings is best done from NOW thru this summer (and beyond if it deepens even more) and hold for the long term, if your age allows.I say summer because it takes time for people to exhaust their lifetime's savings. In Nov. & Dec. both, there were more than 500,000 new jobs lost each month. That's 1 million people that can't pay off the car, boat, RV, house. What HOUSE? Wait a minute. Is this the opportunity of a lifetime? There are auctions popping up all over. You can purchase even cheaper at an auction than at a short sale! This is the time man!Until the Internet, more people became millionaires in America from real estate than any other way. So, if you're not into the Internet, real estate is still the best way.

With all the market turmoil, what is the best way to invest?
I.ve got 60% in bonds and 40% in stock. The stocks I own are small cap Consumer staples and health care with good dividends. This strategy is working well so far. When the market improves I will increase my exposure to stock and other sectors in the market. Be patient. It may take some time.

With all the market turmoil, what is the best way to invest?
The market isn't going to rebound. At least not in our life time. This is a fact and not a truth. We've never seen such an economic turmoil like the one we are facing right now. There was no such thing as CDO, CDS, IRS back 100 years ago.Keeping all that in mind the best way to invest is probably physical silver and gold. The only problem is that the US government can legally confiscate gold. So what can you invest in?As hyperinflation looks more and more real, think about stocking up on guns, ammo, food, farm supplies, NON GM seeds, and other basic living goods such as soap, toilet paper, etc etc.Now I sound drastic but the financial world is truly falling apart. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to udnerstand that. In the end, it's food, clothing and shelter that matters most.
